Undoubtedly, the gay community is often depicted as overtly sexual, in a way that may be blunt or even offensive to another person. Given that it is a group of people all united by a minority sexual preference, my aforementioned statement may not seem all that surprising. Nonetheless, I think it is important to acknowledge that gay men express their pride and security in a variety of ways, similar to how heterosexual people will exhibit a range of outward sexual presence. Myself and many others do not completely identify with the habits and behaviors often attached to young gay men in urban environments. Club-going, vanity, and competition are not anywhere close to my primary interests and it would be startling for me to think that I am only speaking for myself on this matter.
