A Note from André, in Rio De Janeiro…

“Being gay…for me is easy and hard at the same time, my country(Brazil) is not so “free” like most of people around the world think, there are much prejudice yet (that’s the reason for me not to show my face), many crimes and attacks already happened because of this.

Before coming out to the people, I need to come out from myself and I got it! It wasn’t a hard thing but to deal with this “pink world” where the people just worry towards their bodies…is something who let me upset sometimes. Where is the feeling among us?? Most of gays here are very sexual, just think in sex, I have noticed the gays from the other parts of world like Europe are different, they look to want really a fix relationship and not only fun.

I had a big love, he’s German….he doesn’t love me anymore! He taught me to be a better person.

I’d like to live for some months in Europe, I have been there twice…in some countries like backpacker and the people respect each other, no matter if you are gay or straight.

I am not feel comfortable here…the things not work here, mainly towards the gay rights. We are a country sells teats and asses the whole year but nobody can be nude at the beach, its riskly to kiss someone of the same sex on the streets and other things. The image of freedom is fake, this empty behavior of gay community here let me sad.

I look for a quality of life who I don’t find here!

A wish to change my life always will exist.”

Andre, I did not realize that Brazil was difficult for gay people since the pornographic sites always play on Brazilians as though there are many who are free, so your sharing was good. It educated me. I hope you find another lover who will satisfy you and be faithful and kind and help you to live a good life.

Thanks for the nice words Jem! We are known like “hot lovers” but it doesn’t mean no exist prejudice here – exist and a lot. There are many events involving crimes and attacks(no solution) because of homophobia. The government and other important areas won’t admit this problem, “they” don’t want to scare the tourism. I found another lover, a great person but the “good life”…quality of life, I haven’t here but I hope to have one day, I need to believe on it.
      Best wishes!

Quality of life means respect each other, no matter your color, status social or sexuality!

André, being from another Latinamerican country (Mexico), I agree that our “gay” culture is much sex-oriented and thus, it can be difficult to find sense in a life full of vanity and superficial stuff. At the same time, the straight macho culture is still dominant and poses a risk for all gays even in these relatively open-minded days. But it is our duty to move toward our real freedom and our realization that being gay is more than just parties and fun.

    I wish you the best.

Nice words Cesar, I agree to you…but besides the straight macho culture, we have in Latinamerican countries the strong religious influence. You are right, we are more than just parties and fun…we want respect first of all.

Thank you both, Cesar and Andre, for the encouragement to live lives that are respectful and honouring. You hint too, Andre, at some aspect of religious influence which is good. May you both be blessed in pursuing good lives that help others. Blessings to you!
